A Different Record Every Week

A little more about me

I bought my first record player while studying at University in Manchester and have been hooked ever since. Over the many years since then I have slowly been gathering records, both new and old, from all over the globe and now have a rather sizeable and varied collection.

While growing up in Derbyshire I was introduced to Disco, Funk and Soul music through friends and family alike. This was the foundation on which my love for music has been firmly based. Through countless gigs and festivals, firstly for pleasure and then later for work, music has always been close to my ears and to my heart.

Since then I have opened up to new sounds and genres, from jazz and hip- hop to house and techno. I am a firm believer that there is a right time and place for all types of music and that in the appropriate environment all music can flourish.

I have always loved introducing people to new music and artists and have had this idea to champion the album, listening to a collection of intertwined songs that come together and create a single piece of art. I mostly listen to LP's when choosing what to play, occasionally indulging in a playlist or listening to mixes from some of my favourite DJ's.

My hope is that through this blog I can introduce more people to some of my most respected and revered artists along with the joys that come when listening to a complete album, the way it was always intended.

I will be picking albums past and present with no particular order or structure, they are all just pieces of music that at one time or another have resonated with me and therefore I would like to share them, hopefully you will have a similar experience too.

Also you may notice there is no rating given, I purposely avoided this as for me the idea of grading someones art is unproductive. When you hear the music there are many other outside factors that combine to create your overall feeling, something that strikes a chord with me could evoke a totally different emotion with you. All I can do is speak about my past experiences and point you in the direction of what I consider to be great music.

I am always happy to talk music, if you want to carry on the conversation or want to get in touch you can drop me an email - here
